Welcome to PathToFIRE ("the Service", "we", "us", or "our"). PathToFIRE is a private, offline-first wealth planning tool that helps you consolidate your accounts, properties, investments, and expenses into a single financial forecast.
By accessing or using PathToFIRE — including creating an account or subscribing — you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
PathToFIRE is a planning and forecasting tool, not a financial advisor, broker, or investment platform. It does not provide financial, tax, or investment advice. All forecasts and projections are estimates based on the data you provide and should not be relied upon as guarantees of future outcomes. You should always consult a qualified financial professional before making significant financial decisions.
PathToFIRE uses a local-first architecture. Your financial data is stored in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) and is not transmitted to our servers. While this approach prioritises your privacy, it also means that you are responsible for safeguarding your own data.
Clearing your browser data, switching devices, reinstalling your browser, or using incognito mode may result in permanent data loss. Browser-imposed storage quotas may also affect data integrity. We are unable to recover locally stored data that has been lost or deleted.
We recommend regularly exporting your data and/or enabling Google Drive backup to protect against accidental loss.
PathToFIRE offers an optional backup feature that stores an encrypted copy of your data in your own Google Drive account. This feature is entirely optional and initiated by you.
You are responsible for verifying that backups complete successfully. If you lose access to your Google account, revoke OAuth permissions, or your Google Drive storage is full, backups may fail. We are not responsible for backup failures caused by your Google account status or changes to Google's services.
Using PathToFIRE across multiple browsers or devices may lead to sync conflicts. We are not responsible for data discrepancies resulting from concurrent use across multiple sessions.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, PathToFIRE is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
We shall not be liable for any loss of data, loss of profits, or any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service. We are not liable for any financial decisions you make based on forecasts, projections, or information provided by PathToFIRE.
Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from the use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £10, whichever is greater.
When you create an account or subscribe, you provide your email address. By doing so, you consent to receive transactional emails necessary for the operation of the Service, including subscription confirmations, account-related alerts, service updates, and responses to support requests. Transactional emails cannot be opted out of as they are essential to the Service.
With your consent, we may also send you marketing communications such as product updates, feature announcements, educational content related to financial independence, and surveys. You may withdraw your consent for marketing emails at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link in any marketing email or by contacting us at pranesh@pathtofire.me. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect transactional emails.
You agree to provide accurate and truthful information when creating an account, to take responsibility for backing up your data through the export feature or Google Drive backup, and to not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service. You must not use the Service for any illegal or unauthorised purpose.
PathToFIRE offers subscription-based access to premium features. Subscription plans may include monthly and annual billing options. By subscribing, you agree to pay the applicable fees as displayed at the time of purchase.
All subscriptions are managed and payments are processed through Stripe, a PCI-compliant third-party payment processor. We do not store, process, or have access to your credit card numbers or payment card details. All payment information is handled directly by Stripe in accordance with their security standards and privacy policy.
Subscription fees are charged in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on the plan you select). Your payment method will be automatically charged at the start of each billing cycle unless you cancel before the renewal date. All prices are displayed inclusive of any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
We may offer free trial periods at our discretion. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan and your payment method will be charged. Free trials are limited to one per user.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at pranesh@pathtofire.me. Upon cancellation:
Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain full access to premium features until your current paid period expires.
All subscription payments are non-refundable. We do not offer partial refunds or pro-rata credits for unused portions of a billing cycle, whether monthly or annual. If you cancel mid-cycle, you will not receive a refund for the remaining days of that cycle.
In exceptional circumstances (e.g., accidental duplicate payments or billing errors caused by our system), we may issue a refund at our sole discretion. To request a review, contact us at pranesh@pathtofire.me within 7 days of the charge.
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing at any time. If we increase prices, we will give you at least 30 days' notice before the change takes effect. The new price will apply from your next billing cycle after the notice period. If you do not agree with the price change, you may cancel your subscription before the new price takes effect.
If a payment fails, we may retry the charge and/or notify you to update your payment method. If payment cannot be collected after reasonable attempts, we reserve the right to suspend or downgrade your account to the free tier. We are not responsible for any loss of access to premium features resulting from failed payments.
All intellectual property rights in the Service — including the software, design, branding, and content — belong to PathToFIRE. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial financial planning.
Your financial data remains yours. We do not claim any ownership over the data you enter into PathToFIRE.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
You may stop using PathToFIRE at any time. Since your data is stored locally, simply clearing your browser data or ceasing to use the Service is sufficient. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we determine to be harmful to the Service or other users.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
