Privacy First

Your financial life should not be a dataset.

PathToFIRE is built around a simple principle: you own your data.

Stored locally

in your browser (IndexedDB)

No default uploads

ever

Optional backup

to your Google Drive

Export anytime

(JSON)

The Core Principle

PathToFIRE is built on a simple but powerful idea: your financial data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up. No cloud servers. No third-party analytics. No data mining. Your wealth planning stays private.

Local-First Architecture

All your data is stored in your browser using IndexedDB - a secure, encrypted local database. This means:

  • Your transactions, accounts, properties, and forecasts live on your computer only
  • Works completely offline after initial load
  • No server can access, analyze, or sell your financial information
  • Even we (PathToFIRE) cannot see your data

The Only 2 Integrations

PathToFIRE uses exactly two external services - and both are optional or minimal:

1. Google Authentication

Used only for secure login. We use Google OAuth to verify your identity - no passwords stored, no personal data collected beyond your email for account identification.

2. Google Drive Backup (Optional)

You can choose to back up your data as an encrypted JSON file to your own Google Drive. This is:

  • Completely optional
  • Stored in YOUR Google Drive, not ours
  • You control when and if backups happen

Full Data Portability

You can export all your data as JSON at any time. No lock-in. No restrictions. Your data is yours to keep, move, or delete whenever you want.

The Real Benefit

Most financial tools require you to connect your bank accounts, upload statements to their servers, and trust them with your complete financial picture. PathToFIRE takes the opposite approach: your data stays on your device, under your control, always. You get powerful financial planning without sacrificing privacy.
